RIP Graham Dilley

Sad to hear about the death of Graham Dilley today, at 52 he was a still a relatively young man with plenty to offer.

Even though he was a talented bowler who took 138 test wickets at a decent average of 29.78, his most notable contribution for England was with the bat in the shape of his 56 runs in the 117 run partnership with Sir Ian Botham that set up that most famous of Ashes wins at Headingley in 1981.

Botham and Willis get all the accolades for what happened in Leeds over that couple of Ashes’ days, but it’s fairly obvious that without Dilley’s contribution, history would tell a very different story. RIP
