The pitch had enough grass on it last Friday for both captains to claim they would have put the opposition in, had they won it. A West Indies win today, with or without a bonus point, puts them in the final. If they lose they are not out, but they will be depending on the result of the final round-robin match between Sri Lanka and India, and bonus points, etc.
A win for Sri Lanka today with a bonus point puts them through. A win without a bonus point puts them level on points with West Indies, and opens up the prospect of all three teams finishing equal on points, and run rate deciding the final outcome. A win for India on Tuesday with a bonus point, will see them through to the final no matter what happens in today’s match.
With all these ifs, buts, and maybes, the outright winner betting has changed again with West Indies out to 6/4 favourites. India are now second favourites at 7/4, and Sri Lanka are the outsiders at 2/1.
