Perth Scorchers Vs Brisbane Heat Prediction 4/2/21

Ten to fourteen days ago I would have called this as a routine win the Scorchers such was the form of the two teams. Now I’m not so sure.

Brisbane Heat are now on a bit of a role, again! But not just are Brisbane on a roll, the Scorchers seem to have run out of steam.

On paper, the Scorchers do look the stronger side. But things seem to be starting to go wrong for them just at this crucial time.

Saturday’s defeat to Sydney Sixers was chastening. But how much of this was down to the Scorchers themselves?

Well quite a lot could be the answer. Especially if you heard Jason Roy’s remarks to the commentators on the in-play microphone. The England white ball opener indicated that it had been a mistake to bat first, and was quick to point the finger at captain and coach for the decision.

Possibly much ado about nothing. But I did sense a lot of frustration in Roy’s comments – even if they were delivered in a tongue-in-cheek way.

Can the Heat now go all the way?

Another reason why the Heat are now such a threat is the inclusion of Marnus Labuschagne, and the excellent form of Mitchell Swepson.

Labuschagne may not have totally ignited the Big Bash with his batting performances, but his presence has had some impact on the team.

The Australian batsman has immediately strengthened the top 4 batting of the Heat, and his legbreaks have been an absolute revelation – almost more important than his batting.

Another player having a great end of Big Bash, is Mitchell Swepson. The 27 year old’s performances have been earning rave reviews off former Aussie skipper Ricky Ponting, and his 2/28 off his four overs played a huge roll in the recent win over Sydney.

As I’ve already alluded too, I believe the Scorchers to be the stronger team – on paper at least.

I just have a sneaky feeling for the Heat though. They’ve gradually built themselves up across this year’s competition, and are now the form team.

And who knows, theymight even go all the way and win the whole thing.
