Adelaide Strikers Vs Sydney Thunder Prediction 25/1/21

By one of the quirks of the fixture compilers, these teams only met in the reverse fixture yesterday. The Strikers won by 6 runs, thanks in the main to a remarkable penultimate over from Peter Siddle.

The wicket seemed a slow scoring one, and Sydney Thunder’s Adam Milne recorded astonishing bowling figures of 1/6 from his 4 Overs.

In the run chase, the Thunder seemed to have the game won, but let nerves get the better of them in the latter part of the match.

Chasing just 160 to win, the Thunder were 73/1 in the 10th Over, and cruising to victory when a double strike from Michael Neser turned the match on its head.

Even then though, Thunder still should have gone onto win.

Onto Monday’s match, and the Strikers batting line up has been reinforced by the return of Travis Head, but it still looks suspect in the middle order.

Head has been steady, but unspectacular since returning. He has the quality to play a big innings, and maybe this could be his time.

For the Thunder, Alex Hales failed in the last match, scoring just 10 runs off 9 balls. This on the back of his brilliant century earlier in the week. He rarely goes two matches without a telling contribution.

While with the ball, Nathan McAndrew was again incredibly expensive. But contrast that with the form of Adam Milne, and it more than evens itself out.

For my prediction, I think it could go either way, but I’m going to go with the Thunder to get the job done this time. I think they just have the edge, with the Strikers’ weak middle order, the main difference between the sides.

Prediction – Sydney Thunder @ 8/11 with Betfair
