India have hit back from their 8-wicket loss in the first T20 against England to level the series at 1-1, with three games to play.
The Indians gave England a similar style thrashing – beating Eoin Morgan’s England by 7 wickets – in the second match.
With the series now well poised at 1-1, this has ensured we have a serious encounter on our hands with the numbers 1 and 2 in the world going up against each other.
Virat Kohli hit back at his critics for three ducks in his last five games, with an unbeaten 73 from 49 deliveries.
The Indian captain looked emphatic in his innings and truly had a point to prove. Going into this game, their had been some expressions of doubt over Kohli’s form. This is incredible, given his record. Lucky for Kohli, Jos Buttler dropped him on 10 in the fifth Over. This boosted India and helped them kick on in their run chase.
Kohli was impressively accompanied in the run chase by debutant Ishan Kishan. The young left hander hit a half century in his first T20 game for his native country.
Kishan has previously impressed in the Indian Premier League for the Mumbai Indians. And this innings showed that he can also play on the international stage.
His half century came off just 28 balls. And the pick of his innings was hitting Adil Rashid for back-to-back sixes. Showcasing the power that he has in his arsenal.
Like Kohli, Kishan was also dropped. This time on 40 by Ben Stokes, which is extremely out of character. The England all-rounder looked visually frustrated by this.
Going into the next game, India are still favourites for the series priced at 11/17. This looks good value seeing as though they are at home as well. If you are looking for a site to place this bet, then one can be found here. This betting site brings you some of the best odds on the internet.
If England are going to create a comeback, not only are they going to have to clean up their errors in the field, especially from senior players such as Buttler and Stokes, but they are also going to have to clean up their bowling.
England also seemed to miss the pace of Mark Wood, who was out injured for the game due to a bruised ankle,. His replacement Tom Curran, didn’t have a great night.
Even Archer and Stokes looked out of sorts with the ball in hand. All this means Eoin Morgan will need a quick improvement from his team.
