Central Stags confirm place in Preliminary Final

Central Districts into Super Smash Preliminary Final

Central Stags into Preliminary Final with victory over Canterbury Kings.

The line up for Preliminary Final of the 2020/21 Super Smash is complete after Central Districts confirmed their place with a 30 run victory over Canterbury Kings in their final round robin match.

The win for the Stags ends the slim hopes Northern Knights had of overhauling them for the final spot.

After been sent into bat first, the Stags made a competitive 183/6. Helped in the main by 65 (36 balls) from Ross Taylor.

The Kings never really got going in the chase. And once Jack Boyle was out for a painstaking 21 off 19 balls, the game was up. At that point, the Kings needed 101 off 10 Overs, and the game was already up.

Central Stags into Preliminary Final

The same two teams now play again in the Preliminary Final on Thursday. The winner of the Preliminary will go onto contest the final with Wellington Firebirds on Saturday.

The Firebirds have already confirmed their place in the final, by winning the round robin group stage. The Firebirds have been by far the best side in the Super Smash this season.

There’s just two matches left in this year’s Round Robin stages. Next up is Otago Vs Northern Knights on Saturday. Followed by Auckland Aces against Wellington Firebirds on Sunday.
