Match 4 of the 2025 edition of The Hundred sees the Birmingham Phoenix hosting the Trent Rockets at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
The Phoenix made it to the playoffs in 2024, finishing second in the table with 12 points from their eight matches. Birmingham went on to tie the Eliminator, but lost to the Southern Brave after a super-over was used to decide the match.
In the 2024 edition, Birmingham Phoenix won three from four at home. This included a comfortable 6-wicket win against the Rockets.
The Trent Rockets had an average season in The Hundred last year, winning just four of their eight matches.
Out have gone big names like Alex Hales, Rovman Powell, Rashid Khan and Imad Wasim, to be replaced with Marcus Stoinis, David Willey and George Linde.
Joe Root is the star attraction, but he isn’t the same force in the shorter white ball formats, than he is in 50 Over and Test cricket.
This could well be a transitional year for the Rockets.

💡 Today’s The Hundred Betting Tips
🏏 Top Batter Tip – Ben Duckett @ 11/4
Openers Will Smead and Ben Duckett reguarly get Birmingham off to a flying start.
Duckett had a good international summer for England. As a result, he will start The Hundred with confidence, and also with the pressure of international cricket lifted from his shoulders.
🎯 Most Sixes – Birmingham Phoenix @ 8/11
Birmingham Phoenix has a top order of big hitters. Expect Will Smead and Ben Duckett to start the ball rolling.
New addition Joe Clarke will be keen to score runs against the Rockets, and captain Liam Livingstone won’t be shy when it comes to swinging the bat.
💡 Match Winner Tip – Birmingham Phoenix
While both teams are yet to play in this season, Birmingham Phoenix come into this match with a stronger squad on paper and the benefit of home advantage.
In 2024, Phoenix won three out of four matches at Edgbaston, showing clear dominance on home turf.
The batting lineup looks stacked with Liam Livingstone, Will Smead, Joe Clarke, and Ben Duckett, giving them an explosive top three and solid looking middle order.
Add to that a solid bowling attack with Trent Boult joining the ranks, and it’s clear why we’re tipping Birmingham Phoenix to get off to a winning start against a Trent Rockets team that may need time to gel.
✅ Match Prediction: Back Birmingham Phoenix to Win
With a huge Edgbaston crowd cheering them on, Birmingham Phoenix should start The Hundred 2025 with a win.
