This came on the back of a 2-0 series win over West Indies at the back of 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">New Zealand No.1 in Test Rankings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The win means <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cricketbettingblog.com\/hi\/blog\/tag\/new-zealand\/\">New Zealand<\/a><\/strong> are the newly ranked number 1 Test team in world cricket. This is the first time the Kiwi&#8217;s have held this spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They have now got 118 points, taking them two above <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cricketbettingblog.com\/hi\/blog\/tag\/australia\/\">Australia<\/a><\/strong> (116), who are in the middle of a Test series against <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cricketbettingblog.com\/hi\/blog\/tag\/india\/\">India.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83c\uddf3\ud83c\uddff NEW ZEALAND ARE NO.1\ufe0f\u20e3\ud83c\udf89<br><br>Victory over Pakistan has sent Kane Williamson&#39;s side to the \ud83d\udd1d of the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MRFWorldwide?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@MRFWorldwide<\/a> ICC Test Team Rankings!<br><br>They have achieved the feat for the first time in rankings history \ud83d\udc4f <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/8lKm6HebtO\">pic.twitter.com\/8lKm6HebtO<\/a><\/p>&mdash; ICC (@ICC) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ICC\/status\/1346670025952825347?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">January 6, 2021<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>New Zealand<\/strong> actually gained enough points to go top after going 1-0 up in the series over <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cricketbettingblog.com\/hi\/blog\/tag\/pakistan\/\">Pakistan<\/a><\/strong> to top the rankings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They had to wait until the conclusion of the series (against Pakistan) for the ICC to update the rankings though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In caps a brilliant period for the <strong>Black Caps<\/strong> though. A period that has also seen their skipper <strong>Kane Williamson<\/strong> rise to the top of the Test batting rankings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Skipper really has had a summer to savour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beating Pakistan 2-0 also ensured the Kiwi&#8217;s keep alive their hopes of reaching the <strong>World Test Championship<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They currently sit third in that <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espncricinfo.com\/series\/icc-world-test-championship-2019-2021-1195334\/points-table-standings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">table<\/a><\/strong>, behind Australia and India respectively. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kane Williamson&#8217;s New Zealand side completed a 2-0 series win over Pakistan, and in doing so became the No.1 Test team in the ICC cricket world rankings.
