After my article yesterday about the Allen Stanford debacle, I was amused to see this quote from an ECB spokesman in response to questions about the prospect of Andy Flower playing in one of England’s world cup warm-up matches due to our current injury crisis.
He said, “The prospect of a member of the England management staff playing in a World Cup warm-up match is so remote as to be up there with Martians landing at Lord’s.”
What, nearly as remote a chance as a bloke landing his helicopter on the Nursery Ground with $20M in $50 notes and buying the soul of English cricket with it?
Surely nothing like that could never happen.
