Latest betting news on Adil Rashid, ahead of the upcoming 2016 ICC World T20 in India.
Fresh from an impressive showing in the recent Big Bash League in Australia, Adil Rashid is being tipped to again do well in the upcoming World T20 in India. The tournament starts on Tuesday March 8th.
The Yorkshire leg spinner was one of the star performers in the Australian domestic T20 competition, performing exceptionally well over the Christmas to New Year period.
There is historical evidence that spinners do well in in T20 competitions. So given the fact this year’s competition is being held in the spin friendly conditions of India, big things will be expected from Rashid.
In the past things seem to have weighted heavily on the shoulders of Rashid. England’s recent tour of UAE – playing Pakistan – been a good case in point.
Rashid’s performances in Australia for the Adelaide Strikers suggested that he has turned the corner though.
If the man from Yorkshire can replicate his Big Bash performances in India for England, he is sure to be a big player in any outside chance England have of lifting their second World T20 crown.
As I eluded too above, spinners have a decent record in T20 competitions. The like of Sunil Narine, Ravichandran Ashwin, Shahid Afridi, and Imran Tahir occupy places in the top 10 for T20 bowlers in the world rankings.
So it’s not hard to see why Rashid is favourite to be top English bowler in the 2016 world T20.

Rashid is currently 11/4 to be the top English bowler with William Hill. Rashid is followed in the betting by Reece Topley, who on recent form would be hard to back at 7/2.
In the overall world T20 betting, Rashid is a best price of 20/1 with bet365 and Paddy Power to be the top wicket taker in the whole competition.
Depending on which bookmaker you are using, he is roughly the sixth favourite in the betting.
The overall World T20 betting favourite to be top bowler is India’s Ravichandran Ashwin. He is a best price of 10/1. While with some bookies, he’s as short as 7/1.
The fact that the favourite in this market is double figures suggests it is a very open market.
Second favourite in the betting is South Africa’s Imran Tahir at 14/1. While the returning from suspension Pakistani seamer Mohammad Amir, is next at 16/1.
