Somerset won toss and elected to field.

Murray Goodwin and Marcus Trescothick both played the match defining innings in their respective semi-finals for Sussex and Somerset. Goodwin hit an unbeaten 80 as he guided Sussex to a 7 wicket victory over Northants who had struggled batting first to set a competive target with Nicky Boje top scoring with 34 in a modest score of 136/6 from their 20 overs.

Sussex only got to the total with 2 balls remaining but in truth they were always ahead of the game during the chase and just chipped away at the total without taking any unnecessary risks.

Somerset also comfortably won their semi-final with plenty to spare. Batting first Kent managed to get up to 145/5 thanks in the main to Darren Stevens 77, Kent also struggled batting first and it took a parnership of 62 from Rob Key and Stevens to get Kent back in the game after they were 31/3 in the 6th over.

Marcus Trescothick made easy work of that target though taking advantage of some loose Kent bowling. He set the tone taking Amjad Khan’s first and only over for 16, hitting him for consecutive 4’s while on his way to 56 off just 32 balls. James Hildreth all but finished the job with 36 from 32 balls before he fell with just 5 runs needed in the 19th over, but by then the job was already done.
