Match Betting Preview
Cricket: World Twenty20 betting, Group C, Trent Bridge 13.30
Sri Lanka head into the final Group C match as 4/6 favourites in the betting with the bookmakers for this dead rubber. With both sides having beaten Australia – and in doing so knocking them out – they will both be on a high heading into this one. If you fancy West Indies, they can be backed at 6/4 with Betfred at the moment.
Sri Lanka justify their favouritism for me as they looked a far more polished outfit in beating the Aussies, Mendis and Muralitharan troubled every batsman that faced them, while Sangakkara was outstanding as a batsman and captain – a class act. As well as West Indies did compared to their performances against England the reality of it is that Chris Gayle’s remarkable innings of 88 won the match as their fielding was average at best and the bowlers were wayward with wides and no-balls – something that will be punished up against the top outfits in the Super Eights.
Chris Gayle is carrying a bit of a knee injury so is unlikely to be risked today, Lendl Simmons is likely to take his place.
No injury problems for the Sri Lanka side, they may give a start to Nuwan Kulasekara who didn’t play in the win over the Aussies.
