Sri Lanka V Pakistan – 3rd Test, Day 5 Betting Preview

Another World record 4th innings target has been set this week with Pakistan finally declaring on 425/9 and setting Sri Lanka the small matter of 492 from 150 overs. After the Aussie’s gave England a scare at the end of the Lord’s test before coming up short, Sri Lanka will be looking to go one better on the final day of the 3rd test.

Finishing day 4 on 183/3 the Sri Lankan’s still need 309 more runs to achieve a new World record landmark. Kumar Sangakkara is unbeaten on 50 and you would have to imagine for Sri Lanka to win he would need to post a total of 150 plus.

Pakistan batted on til just after lunch before Younis called them in with 425/9 scored. Starting the day on 300/5, Pakistan wasted no time in the morning session with Malik and Akmal going after the bowling from the 1st over. Akmal didn’t last long only adding 14 to his overnight score of 60, while Malik went on to score 134, Umar Gul continued the onslaught with a quick fire 46 from just 50 balls.

Sri Lanka then made steady progress with the bat scoring at just over 3 runs an over, Tharanga Paranavitana top scoring with 73 before falling to Shoaib Malik. With Tillakaratne Dilshan not likely to bat with an injured finger, Sri Lanka will have their work cut out to get the remaining 309 runs required.
