Sri Lanka V Pakistan – 3rd Test Betting

Cricket Betting

Sri Lanka are looking for their first clean sweep over Pakistan in the 3rd Test starting in Colombo on Monday. Kumar Sangakkara’s first home series as a Captain couldn’t have gone much better really with them already 2-0 up after the first two tests.

Even without the services of spin king Muttiah Muralitharan for the whole series and a lacklustre performance from heir-to-the-thrown Ajantha Mendis, Sri Lanka have dominated this series so far.

Pakistan have been the complete opposite. After a joke of a performance to get bowled out for just 90 in the 1st innings of the 2nd test they performed what seemed to be a remarkable turnaround in bowling the hosts out for 240 and were then leading the match by 135 runs with 9 wickets remaining on 285 for 1 in their second innings.

What happened next summed Pakistan up. From a position of strenght they had got themselves into they decided to self destruct. First skipper Younis Khan played a horrible reverse sweep and got himself out, so at 285 for 2 at this stage you would think not a major disaster. They then went on to lose the next 8 wickets for just 35 runs in just over 18 overs with a spectacular collapse .

This just sums them up, for a side with so much talent in – just look at World Twenty20 – how can they manage such performances or results like this?

Younis Khan has decided against wielding the axe this time – maybe in light of his own shot – but you would have to imagine that some of them are playing for their futures in this match.

Sri Lanka are giving a farewell test cap to veteren performer Chaminda Vaas, their was a story doing the rounds earlier in the series that he had retired from test cricket which was quickly denied. In would now appear that it was true and that it was merely someone letting the cat of the bag when the story broke as he has now confirmed that this will be his last test performance, he went onto say that he is still available for ODI’s and T20 matches.
