ODI Tri-Series Betting

The Australian tri-series between Australia, India and England starts in Sydney on Friday (16th Jan), with the host nation facing England in the opening match of what looks like it could be an exciting World Cup warm up.

The tournament starts off with a group stage, with six round robin matches played over the next two weeks (16th Jan – 30th Jan), in which all three teams will play each other twice. The final will be then be contested between the top two teams at the WACA on Sunday 1st February. Every match will be covered live in the UK on Sky Sports.

The favourites tag is being held by hosts Australia. They have recently completed a 4-1 ODI series win over South Africa, and are the current world number ranked team, all be it with India breathing down their necks. The Aussies can be backed to win series at a best price of 10/11 with Boylesports (who also offer £50.00 worth of free bets to new customers).

India are the current World Champions and the holders of the ICC Champions Trophy. Whatever way you want to dress it up though, they’ve just had a pretty good hiding in the recent Test series against Australia.

Limited overs cricket is their strength though, and they will no doubt be far more competitive over the next two weeks. India seem to have the ability to flick a switch and be a completely different team when the ball changes colour, and it would be no surprise to see them win this competition.

Despite quitting the Test captaincy recently, MS Dhoni retains the ODI leadership, and it will be interesting to see if the ordeal has had any effect on his confidence leading into this short series. India are second favourites in the betting, and are a best price of 9/4 with Coral to add the tri-series trophy to their impressive collection.

And finally, onto England. Eoin Morgan is now captain, and this will be their first competitive international match since they sacked Alastair Cook as ODI captain (they have played two warm up games since arriving in Australia). It will be interesting to see if there is a drastic change in the way England approach their cricket, with a more attacking captain now at the helm.

England go into tonight’s opening match with doubts about Jimmy Anderson’s fitness. They start this competition as the big outsiders, they are currently a best price of 9/2 with Ladbrokes to win the tri-series outright.
