PSL Overseas Player Replacements 2021

The 2021 Pakistan Super League is only a handful of days away, and there has been some last minute PSL overseas player replacements effecting three of the teams.

PSL Overseas Player Replacements

For Islamabad United, Fawad Ahmed, Ali Khan and Paul Stirling have come into the squad to replace Colin Munro, Reece Topley and Chris Jordan, as the franchises’ overseas picks.

Fawad Ahmed replaces New Zealand’s Colin Munro. The Kiwi withdrew a few weeks ago due to quarantine issues he would face on his return to New Zealand at the conclusion of the tournament.

To further disrupt Islamabad’s preparations, they’ve also now had to replace Reece Topley and Chris Jordan. Both Topley and Jordan are in the England T20 squad to face India in March.

Peshawar Zalmi  have also seen their preparations disrupted. Yorkshire’s Tom-Kohler Cadmore is brought in to replace Liam Livingstone, who is also named in the England T20 squad.

Livingstone’s form in the Big Bash clearly didn’t go unnoticed by the England selectors.

The final side to see their plans tossed up in the air are Quetta Gladiators. They have had to sign Faf du Plessis as a partial player replacement for Chris Gayle.

Gayle is set to miss a section of the competition due to West Indies commitments, he looks set to be recalled to play against Sri Lanka.

Faf de Plessis will cover for the section of the tournament that Gayle is unavailable for.

The 2021 Pakistan Super League starts this Saturday with Karachi Kings taking on Quetta Gladiators. This is the first of 34 matches in total.
