Match Betting Preview

Nothing riding on this game from a tournament point of view except Indian pride. The effigy sellers in India have already sold out of MS Dhoni’s, ensuring a warm welcome for them on their return.

From a betting point of view the bookmakers don’t seem to have seen anything to change their view that South Africa are favourites for Tuesday’s Group E finale. The Africans can be backed at a decent sounding 8/11, the odds seem a bit generous but that can only be as they have nothing to play for.

India have spent Monday explaining away the decision to move Ravindra Jadeja up the batting order, a move which with the benefit of hindsight cost them the match. In fairness to Dhoni he has taken the responsibility of his teams early exit and has not tried to make excuses, he also excepts that the fielding of his Indian team hasn’t been up to scratch and their batsmen were also found to be struggling to cope with short pitched bowling.

Not much team news yet, the only confirmation is that Jacques Kallis will be left out to rest his bad back with Morne Morkel set to replace him and cheer up India’s batsmen with more short pitched bowling. India may give one or two of their squad players a run out.
