India lead 1st Test after an enthralling Day 2

India edge ahead of Australia on Day 2 of 1st Test

Day 2 of the 1st Test ended with India leading by 62 runs with 9 wickets remaining, after the hosts managed to edge their way in front on an enthralling day at the Adelaide Over.

Starting the day on 233/6, the Indians didn’t last long, adding just a further 11 runs for their remaining 4 wickets.

Australia didn’t fair much better when they came to bat, and were 35/2 at lunch.

The bulk of the main damage was done in the second hour of the second session. During this period of play, India picked up the wickets of Steve Smith, Travis Head, and debutant Cameron Green. This left the Aussies in real trouble at 92/5 at tea.

India edge in front despite Tim Paine resistance

In the final session the Aussies did stage a bit of a fightback. Eventually, they were bowled out for 191, with Tim Paine top scoring with an unbeaten 73. A first innings deficit of 53.

This left the Indian top order with a tricky session of play to negotiate.

They managed to get through the 6 Overs with just the loss of 1 wicket, Prithvi Shaw (4 runs). India finished the day on 9/1, with a match lead of 62 runs.

In the latest cricket betting, India are now 8/13 favourites to win the 1st Test.

Having started the day as favourites, Australia are now out to 13/10. With an unlikely looking draw priced up at 35/1.

Day 3 resumes tomorrow with India looking to bat long.
