Danny Briggs the latest Englishman to sign up for BBL|10

Danny Briggs signs for Adelaide Strikers

Another day, and another Englishman joins the Big Bash, this time it’s Warwickshire new boy Danny Briggs, who has just agreed to play for the Adelaide Strikers.

Briggs who has just left Sussex to join Warwickshire in his domestic game, becomes the Strikers third and final overseas player for BBL|10.

Danny Briggs to play alongside Rashid Khan at Adelaide Strikers

The left arm spinner will be available for the duration of the Big Bash, as will his fellow overseas signings, Phil Salt, and Rashid Khan.

The move also sees the bowler join up with former Sussex coach, Jason Gillespie, whom Briggs had a good relationship with during their time together on the south coast of England.

As well as signing a player he knows well, Gillespie is also signing the leading wicket taker in the history of the English T20 Blast.

Briggs has 172 wickets in domestic T20 in England from his 152 games, with an economy rate of 7.16. He also has 7 England caps to his name.

On a personal level, I think it would be fair to say that Briggs’ game has stalled somewhat over the past couple of years. Hence the 29 year olds move to Warwickshire.

Maybe, this foray into the Big Bash with his ole mentor might be just the thing that Briggs need.

In the latest Big Bash betting odds, Adelaide Strikers are 5/1 third favourites to win the 10th edition of the competition.

That puts them behind Melbourne Stars, the 10/3 favourites, and second favourites, Sydney Sixers, who are 4/1.

In their opening match, the Strikers take on Hobart Hurricanes on 13th December. In what will be Match 5 of the competition.
