Cricket Betting – Pakistan odds cut after impressive win

Pakistan have been cut to a best price of 7/1 with Betfair to win the cricket world cup after their impressive victory over Sri Lanka on Saturday. The defeat sees the Sri Lankans eased out slightly to 9/2 with the majority of bookmakers.

I only seen bits of the game today, but from what I seen and read about it, it looks to have been a really good game. I know that a lot of the games have been a disappointment so far, but this match and the Ireland V Bangladesh game seem to have livened the competition up a bit.

A good hiding for England tomorrow and it will hit fever pitch in India!

Tomorrow’s game sees India as favourites at a general 4/9 and England at a best price of 2/1 with Bet365. On paper India should win, but I wouldn’t back them at that short price (and obviously because I’m English). For all England’s struggles, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see them put in a decent performance.

Paul Collingwood has shown that he is coming into a bit of form with the bat recently. If England decide to stick with Ravi Bopara, then Colly will also have a bit of bowling to do. For these reasons I’m going to invest a silly pound on him to be Man of the Match, he is 25/1 with both VC Bet and Paddy Power.

I noticed that Stan James have a market for the most economical bowler in this game, they have picked 3 bowlers from each side.

I don’t know if they know something I don’t, but James Anderson’s name isn’t even in the running. Then again it could simply be that Stan’s odds compilers have watched him lately and realised no one with a brain would back him.

I also heard a report that on Thursday some members of the public went to the ground armed with Ricky Ponting and his well hard ‘box’ to get a ticket for this game. Following on from his appauling behaviour last Monday, he was seen getting stuck in to the fight with the police. Will that bloke ever calm down?

Would your cricket loving Buddies enjoy this?

  1. Should have stuck with Ravi hey Dean? He may have been able to take them over the line. Should have had him over Yardy, even though he is a fellow Hammer. IRONS!!!

Apparently Warne predicted a tie! Did you have the odds on that before the game?

  2. No, the bookies don’t always price up a tie in ODI’s. Don’t know why, it’s just usually a two horse race.

I suppose if you look around, you could find odds for a tie, but because it’s that rare I don’t bother too look.

Yardy bowled 10 overs at 1/64, would the bowling of Collingwood, KP and Ravi cost us more runs compared to what runs Bopara might have scored with the bat? I don’t know, it’s a tough call.

I know one thing for certain, I’d bring Broad back in for Anderson at the moment.
