Chris Adams’ Fundraising Bike Ride

While driving back into Coventry yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon I noticed on the other side of the A45 carriageway what appeared to be 3 cyclists surrounded by a couple of support cars protecting the riders from the traffic on what is a very busy road.

I tried to read what it said on the side of the support vehicles but couldn’t make it out. I later heard on local radio that Warwickshire had signed fast bowler Chris Wright from Essex, so when I got home from work I looked on the Warwickshire website online to see about Wright and by sheer coincidence there was the headline ‘Grizzly’s Arrive At Edgbaston As Part Of Fundraising Ride.’

It turns out that what I had seen earlier in the day was Chris Adams and his brother David doing a charity bike ride from Northamptonshire’s County Ground to Edgbaston. This was the 6th day of a 15 day bike ride called ‘The Big Cricket Ride’ which will visit all the 18 first class cricket grounds to raise cash for the Leukaemia and Lymphoma charity’s life-saving research.

The bike ride was inspired after the brother’s father, John Adams, was diagnosed with Peripheral T-cell Lymphoma in June 2010, he is apparently recovering well at the moment.
