2019 T20 Blast Betting

Another cricket betting extravaganza starts this week with the 2019 T20 Blast getting under way this Thursday evening (18th July).

And after England’s magnificent ICC World Cup win, we are looking forward to another exciting competition, with plenty of betting opportunities.

The opening fixture sees Middlesex taking on Essex at Lord’s, on Thursday at 6,15pm. There is two other fixtures on the same night, with Glamorgan V Somerset (6.30pm), and Notts Outlaws V Worcs (7pm), from Trent Bridge.

Vitality T20 Blast Betting

Speaking of Worcestershire, and the defending champions are 14/1 to repeat the feat and defend their trophy. The Rapids are no where near favourites to win the competition this year, that accolade goes to Sussex and Nottinghamshire, depending on which bookmaker you use.

Notts Outlaws can be backed at 7/1 with a whole host of bookmakers, with 6/1 the current shortest price available.

While the Sussex Sharks are a best price of 8/1, with their shortest price, also 6/1.

Of the other main contenders with the bookmakers, Surrey are 8/1, and Hampshire are 9/1. They are followed by northern powerhouses Lancashire Lightning and Yorkshire Vikings both at 12/1, which is the same price as Hampshire.

T20 Blast 2019 Format

This year sees the 18 teams again split up into two groups, North and South. The North Group consists of the following 9 teams …….

  • Derbyshire Falcons
  • Durham Jets
  • Lancashire Lightning
  • Leicestershire Foxes
  • Northamptonshire Steelbacks
  • Notts Outlaws
  • Birmingham Bears
  • Worcestershire Rapids
  • Yorkshire Vikings

The South Group has the following 9 teams in it………..

  • Essex Eagles
  • Glamorgan
  • Gloucestershire
  • Hampshire
  • Kent Spitfires
  • Middlesex
  • Somerset
  • Surrey
  • Sussex Sharks

Bizarrely, all sides will play 14 matches, 7 at home, and 7 away. This means that a team will not play all the other 8 teams in their group, home and away. All sides miss playing one away match against a particular side, and one home match against a different side.

This is the same format that was used in 2018, and it can only be concluded that the two missing matches is done to the tight fixture schedule. God knows how it will work next year, with the introduction of the ECB’s new One Hundred competition.

T20 North Group Betting

Despite having a shocking season in the County Championship, Notts Outlaws are favourites to win the North Group, they are a best price of 11/4. Lancashire Lightning, and Yorkshire Vikings can’t be separated at 11/2, and Birmingham Bears are 7/1.

T20 South Group Betting

Betting to win the South Group sees Sussex as 4/1 favourites to top the group. The Sharks are closely followed by Surrey who are 9/2, with Hampshire at 5/1, and Somerset at 7/1.

Players To Watch Out For

There are some top quality players in England for the 2019 T20 Blast, and this all adds up to an exciting tournament with plenty of betting options. Here we take at three of the batsmen we think will have an impact this season.

T20 Blast – Batsman To Watch

Babar Azam, Somerset – The Pakistan batsman has been one of the most prolific top run scorers in T20 cricket over recent times. Fresh from scoring 474 runs in 8 matches at the ICC Cricket World Cup, Babar is in decent form. He is one of the betting favourites to be Top Batsman in 2019 T20 Blast, at a best price of 12/1.

Arron Finch, Surrey – Australia’s 50 Over captain is another one who had a decent world cup. Finch scored 507 runs and had an excellent average of 50.70. He is also 12/1 in Top Batsman betting.

Alex Hales, Notts Outlaws – Hales will be looking to make amends for the recent issues that seen him kicked out of England’s World Cup squad. Will be interesting to see how the recent events have effected him. Will he want to make a point and have a great tournament, or will he be struggling to cope with the disappointment of not having a world cup winning medal. Hales is 14/1 to be the Top Batsman in the 2019 T20 Blast.

There are plenty of other top batsmen on show this season, the likes of AB de Villiers is in town, and England’s World Cup winning captain will be available from the start of August. As well as the batsmen, there is also some exciting bowlers to look out for in this season’s Blast. Here are the 3 bowlers we think will have a big impact.

T20 Blast – Bowlers To Watch

Harry Gurney, Notts Outlaws – The Notts seamer is now a sought after white ball specialist. Over the past few months he has represented Melbourne Renegades, Quetta Gladiators, and the Kolkata Knight Riders, in franchise T20 cricket.

He has now come back home to Nottinghamshire, where he will be hoping to improve the fortunes of the county, given the disappointing County Championship season they are having. Gurney is 12/1 in the top wicket taker betting.

Tom Curran, Surrey – The Surrey and England bowler did not have feature at the ICC Cricket World Cup, but has a winners medal, and will be entering the T20 Blast full of confidence. Not the ever lacks it!!

Curran is one of the most improved cricketers in England, and can count himself extremely unlucky not to have made the starting XI for England over the world cup. He will be looking to continue to build on recent successes, and can be backed to be top wicket taker at 16/1.

Rashid Khan, Sussex – You can’t keep a good man down for long, and that’s exactly what Rashid Khan is. Rashid did have a disappointing ICC World Cup, but domestic T20 is where he is at his most best. Having spent last season at Sussex, he knows his way around this place. Current top run scorer betting is 14/1.
