2014 IPL Top Wicket Taker Betting Odds

01/05/14 – The contest to win the Purple Cap is a lot closer than the race to be top batsman, with 11 players all within 1 or 2 wickets of current leader, Sunil Narine.

Continuing on from the theme in the World T20, spin is leading the way, and West Indian spinner Narine currently leads the way with 9 wickets.

This is reflected in the betting odds, as Narine is favourite at a best price of 21/10 with Betfair (Sportsbook). Bhuvneshwar Kumar (8 Wickets) is second in the betting at 5/1.

While Mitchell Johnson is lurking near by with 7 wickets, bucking the trend that it’s spin that dominates T20. Johnson is currently a 7/1 shot, which on current form looks decent value.

IPL Top Wicket Taker Betting

Dwayne Bravo topped the 2013 Indian Premier League wicket taking charts with 32 victims (from 18 matches) at a magnificent strike rate of 11.71. Despite this, the ‘Top Wicket Taker’ betting in the 2014 IPL sees Lasith Malinga at the 9/1 favourite to top the charts, as he last did back in 2011.

Last year’s IPL seen Malinga come 9th in the standings with 20 wickets from his 17 matches played, but he will be entering this year’s competition on an amazing high after leading Sri Lanka to the World T20 just a couple of weeks back.

If you fancy last year’s top bowler, Dwayne Bravo to do the trick again, he is a best price of 16/1, while man of the moment, Mitchell Johnson, is 14/1.

Other top prices are Dale Steyn (2nd favourite) at 10/1. Sunil Narine is 12/1, Amit Mishra 12/1, Ravichandran Ashwin 14/1 and Samuel Badree is 16/1.
