The words of the Johnny Nash song, ‘There are more Questions than Answers’ is the appropriate phrase that can be used to sum up the situation surrounding Zulqarnain Haider after a day of claim and counter claims on Tuesday.
Many Pakistan officials and people of influence have spoken out against him, accusing him of turning his back on Pakistan. That was the view of former Pakistan captain Asif Iqbal, while Ramiz Raja claimed to have it on good authority that Haider has played his last game for his country.
The lack of a coherent explanation for all this is leaving a hugh vacuum that is currently being filled with all sorts of mad theories and opinions.
I’m not going to go through them all as it is too late at night and I will only confuse myself with it, also it is just all speculation at the moment and to try and speculate on speculation is usually a futile task.
This is certainly a bizarre and entertaining case. It is also sad that it is again currently damaging Pakistan cricket.
Probably the saddest point of all in this, is that the career of yet another young up and coming Pakistan cricketer now appears to be lying in tatters and all but over before it ever really began.
