T20 finals day is upon us and it is English cricket’s most talked about man at the moment – Rob Key’s Kent who are the favourites to lift the trophy. Beaten finalists last year and winners in 2007 Kent look to have the strongest team on paper with top order specialists Key and Denly and at the depth bowlers Mahmood and Parnell the teams main spearheads.

Kent take on the dangerous Somerset in the days second semi-final, Somerset have a strong batting line up with the match winning Trescothick in top form along side Langer and Hildreth. Somerset and Kent are arguably the strongest teams left in the tournament.

In the first of the days semi-finals Northants take on Sussex. Luke Wright remains the main threat for Sussex, he is a T20 specialist and Northants know he is a key player as he can win a match on his own with his explosive batting. In the bowling Sussex have the know how of James Kirtley and Yasir Arafat, they lose the services of wicketkeeper Matt Prior though who is rested for England duty next week.

Northants are the only team who cannot qualify for the overkill of the Champions League – another IPL led initative designed to add more T20 cricket into an already busy schedule – as Nicky Boje and Andrew Hall were still deemed to have links with the ICL even though the pair have both ended their contracts.

In Boje and Hall, Northants have experienced on day campaigners who know how to win a game, add to that the impressive wicketkeeper and big hitting Niall O’Brien and Northants can claim to have a side that is not to be underestimated.
