Think it is safe to say there is not much chance this game will be a draw. After a ridiculous first day in which 13 wickets fell Sri Lanka find themsevles in a position to finish the series off.
If Pakistan thought their batting display in the second innings of the 1st test was bad then I don’t know what they will make of this performance. After winning the toss and deciding to bat they could only manage a pathetic 90 all out with just 3 men reaching double figures.
The pitch and conditions offered some assistance to the bowlers but not enough for a side to be skittled out for just 90. A mixture of good bowling and bad shot selection was enough to put the Sri Lankans in charge.
When Sri Lanka came out to bat they didn’t fair too well themsevles, three of their own top order failed and only Kumar Sangakkara’s unbeaten 81 has held the innings together – they finished on 164/3, a lead of 74 with 7 wickets remaining.
When Pakistan get behind like this history tells us they usually crumble, this is probably why the bookmakers now make them 12/1 outsiders to win this test. To have any chance they need their bowlers to get them back in the game on the 2nd day – even if they do though can you really see their batsmen setting Sri Lanka a decent target in this form?
